UCLA Waitlist Statistics And Decisions 2023/2026

This year, UCLA received a huge number of applications. It is not surprising that a large number of students have been put on the UCLA Waitlist or put on hold until the university decides whether or not to admit them.

This is an update from the UCLA Office of Admissions on the waitlist. Don’t worry, it’s not too late! Being on the waitlist doesn’t mean you won’t be accepted into UCLA.

The Admissions Office will wait until all admitted students have submitted their deposit to select how many places remain for admitted students.

After that, they go through the waiting list and offer admission to those who are still interested in attending UCLA and have spots in certain courses.

As of now, the waiting list is open, which means that if you receive a letter claiming that you have been put on the waiting list, you can either accept or decline it.

To do this, you must log in to your MyUCLA account and follow the instructions of your Admissions Advisor.

UCLA Waitlist Last Year

Last year, UCLA accepted nearly 14,000 students from nearly 160,000 applicants. That’s an 8.8% acceptance rate – extremely low for a public university (even though UCLA has more applicants than any other university). In 2018 and 2019, UCLA’s acceptance rate was 17% and 14%, respectively.

For the 2025 class, around 750 to 800 students were accepted from the waiting list. This is fewer than the 1,148 students admitted from the waitlist in 2018-19 and 654 admitted in 2017-18. This year, the number is expected to be even lower due to COVID-19.

So what are your chances of being removed from the waiting list? Well, it depends on how you compare to other applicants and what you include in your application and supporting materials.

How Do I Get Off The UCLA Waitlist?

If you want to stay on the UCLA waiting list, you have to do everything right so that you don’t wait so long and end up not being admitted.

  • Remaining on the waiting list is optional. To decide whether to stay in it, to leave it.
  • Keep updating your credentials and documents or test scores once you become new and better.

  • Alternatively, applicants must apply for admission to another school while awaiting admission to UCLA.

2025 UCLA Waitlist Acceptance Rate

The percentage of students who will be accepted from the waiting list is not certain at this time. The UCLA waitlist acceptance rate is statistically around 20%.

Determinant: Since admitted students have the option of accepting or declining enrollment, the more students declining or declining their enrollment, the greater the chance that waiting-listed students will be admitted.

There are many students who agree to be put on the waiting list. However, before accepting to be placed on the waitlist, you should make up your mind before accepting the waitlist.

When Will UCLA Waitlist Decisions for 2022 Be Released? There are no assigned dates for waitlist decisions. Note: Being placed on the waiting list is purely a matter of luck, as chance is not very reliable at this point.

What happens next?

The same waiting list process applies to transfer students and freshmen (first year) who applied during Early Decision or Early Action. So keep calm and check your app status from time to time.
