The Top 10 private Universities in Nigeria according to NUC
- Covenant University: Covenant university is a Christian private university owned by the Living faith church. It is located in Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State. The Private university was established by the World Mission Agency on 21 October 2002.
- Babcock university: This is owned by the 7th-day Adventist church. It is located in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria. The university was named after an American missionary David C. Babcock. Babcock University leads the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria.
- Joseph Ayo babalola university: It is located between Ipo Arakeji and Ikeji-Arakeji in Osun State, Nigeria. Joseph Ayo Babalola University was established by the Christ Apostolic Church in 2004 and was named after Christ Apostolic Church’s spiritual leader. The university is the first entrepreneurial university in Nigeria.
- Bowen university: It is owned by the Nigerian Baptists convention. The university is located at Iwo in Osun State, Nigeria. It is the first Baptist’s university in Africa

- Igbinedion university: This is the first private university in Nigeria. It was established in 1999. It is located at Okada, Ovia North-East Local Government Area, Edo State. The university was founded by and named after a Benin chief, Sir Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion.
- American University of Nigeria: The American University of Nigeria was founded in 2004 by Atiku Abubakar, a former Nigerian Vice President. The university is located in Yola, Nigeria.
- Afe Babalola University: Afe Babalola University was founded by a lawyer, Afe Babalola, in 2009. The private university was named after the founder.

- Landmark university: Landmark university is affiliated with the living faith church.
